1. Arrival, Grimoire Awakening & Magic Orders

Every adventurer awakens as a fresh initiate at the sovereign Grand Citadel located at coordinates (0, 5). Protected by ancient sanctuary wards where PvP violence is strictly forbidden, initiates begin their journey exploring the peaceful Charted Basin (2 stamina per step), training core attributes, mastering basic physical conduit strikes, and resting in their Citadel quarters.

Grimoire Awakening Rite (Level 5)

Upon attaining Level 5, your spiritual vessel matures enough to commune with living arcane relics. Visit The Grand Library within the Grand Citadel to undergo the Grimoire Awakening Rite before the Archimagus. You will align with your destined primary element (Fire, Water, Earth, or Wind) and awaken your living Grimoire. Your Grimoire rolls randomly between Rank D and Rank A:

  • Rank D (Common): 50% chance (1.05× base spell potency multiplier, +1 slot)
  • Rank C (Uncommon): 30% chance (1.15× base spell potency multiplier, +1 slot)
  • Rank B (Rare): 15% chance (1.25× base spell potency multiplier, +2 slots)
  • Rank A (Legendary): 5% chance (1.40× base spell potency multiplier, +2 slots)

Your Grimoire houses your inscribed elemental spells and unlocks your active combat spell deck. As your character ascends through the Knight Ranks, your active spell deck expands from 3 slots up to 7 slots. Reaching Level 5 also opens the gates to the Uncharted Wilds (4 stamina per step) and unlocks Tier D Focus Wands.

The Sorting Rite & Magic Orders (Level 10):

Upon attaining Level 10, you become eligible to stand before the Elder Tribunal in the Elder's Court at the Grand Citadel for the sacred Sorting Rite. Your instincts and early trials are evaluated, generating official bids from two of the four Great Magic Orders. You take the sacred oath and swear allegiance to your chosen Order:

  • Pyre Dominion (Fire): Wielders of fierce flame and combustion, devastating against earth and nature.
  • Abyssal Syndicate (Water): Masters of ocean tides and frost, extinguishing flame and surging with mana.
  • Terra Enclave (Earth): Stalwart shapers of stone and nature, grounding gale winds and resisting physical strikes.
  • Zephyr Concord (Wind): Agile weavers of tempest and storm, out-maneuvering tides and striking with swift tempo.

Swearing your covenant to an Order unlocks Order Quarters, Order Merits, Order Treasury, Order Roster, access to Artisan Workshops in the Bazaar, and the authority to capture Leyline Monoliths across the realm.

Grimoire Battle Wear & The Royal Scribe:

Suffering defeat in combat chars parchment and frays the binding of your Grimoire, accumulating Wear Scars. Each wear scar incurs a -1% Spell Potency penalty (up to a maximum penalty of -5%).

You can visit the Royal Scribe at the Citadel to cleanse scorch marks, rebind the spine, and restore your Grimoire to Pristine Condition (0% penalty) for a modest gold fee.

2. Knight Ranks, Core Attributes & Vocations

Your character's standing in the realm is measured by your Knight Rank and your core disciplines:

Knight Rank Level Required Active Spell Slots Key Milestones & Unlocks
Tier 0: Initiate Level 1+ 3 Slots Citadel arrival, Level 5 Grimoire Awakening, Level 10 Sorting Rite
Tier 1: Novice Level 10+ 4 Slots Expanded spell catalog, novice group equipment
Tier 2: Knight Level 15+ 5 Slots Vocation specialization unlocked (Soul Disciplines)
Tier 3: Archon Level 25+ 6 Slots Can wield Rank B, A, and S Focus Wands safely
Tier 4: Sovereign Level 40+ 7 Slots Master deck capacity, endgame relics and territories

Training & Automatic Level-Ups

You can train your core disciplines (Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Willpower) at the Citadel Gymnasium or field camp:

  • Strength (STR): Increases physical attack damage, equipment carrying weight, and stamina reserves.
  • Agility (AGI): Improves tactical reaction, critical strike likelihood, and wilderness flee success.
  • Intelligence (INT): Directly strengthens offensive magic and spell scaling.
  • Willpower (WIL): Empowers spiritual aura pressure, spell defense, and scouting perception radius.

Training attributes consumes stamina and simultaneously awards Character Experience (EXP). When training EXP reaches your next milestone, your character levels up automatically on the spot—restoring health and mana pools and granting unspent attribute points.

Vocations (Unlocked at Knight Rank 2 / Level 15)

Upon achieving Rank 2 (Knight), you can pledge to one of four specialized vocations:

  • Vitalist: Restorative healer capable of healing allies on world map tiles with boosted healing potency.
  • Striker: Aggressive combatant gaining bonus critical strike rate and opening round burst damage.
  • Warden: Stalwart defender gaining heightened defense while guarding and the ability to pitch fortified Sanctuary Camps.
  • Infiltrator: Elusive scout receiving bonus agility during Round 1 and the ability to cloak their presence from enemy radar.

3. Universal Item & Equipment Ranks

All items, armor pieces, weapons, and focus conduits across Arcane Rebirth are classified into five universal quality tiers:

  • RANK D • Common (Bronze / Slate): Readily found novice gear and entry-level crafting components.
  • RANK C • Uncommon (Emerald Green): Solid adventuring equipment with notable primary bonuses.
  • RANK B • Rare (Sapphire Blue): Potent enchanted artifacts offering high attribute bonuses and group set synergies.
  • RANK A • Epic / Legendary (Arcane Purple): Mastercrafted relics recovered from deep dungeon bosses and dangerous outlaws.
  • RANK S • Mythic / Sovereign (Celestial Gold): Transcendent artifacts of supreme power, prized across the entire realm.

Equipment Slots

Every knight possesses specialized equipment slots: Head, Torso, Legs, Necklace, Ring, and the Mainhand Focus Wand. Gear may provide health bonuses, mana pools, physical mitigation, and elemental resistances.

4. Equipment Groups & Set Synergy Bonuses

Certain armor pieces belong to specialized Equipment Groups (Set Collections). When you equip multiple pieces of the same group simultaneously, you unlock tiered Set Synergy Bonuses:

Example Equipment Groups:

  • Novice Arcane Uniform: Standard issue academy garb. Equipping 2 pieces increases your mana regeneration rate and maximum mana; equipping 3 pieces grants a substantial bonus to total mana pool.
  • Cinder-Woven Regalia: Flame-imbued battle robes tailored for offensive fire mages. Set bonuses grant bonus magma/fire spell damage and fire resistance.
  • Abyssal Tide-Garb: Water and ice attuned robes. Multi-piece set bonuses enhance mana recovery during combat and grant heightened resistance to burning effects.
  • Verdant Warden Aegis: Sturdy defensive armor forged with living bark and stone. Set bonuses amplify physical damage mitigation and maximum health.
  • Gale-Strider Silk: Lightweight wind-attuned attire. Set bonuses enhance movement tempo, round initiative, and evasion.

You can mix and match different sets or combine full sets to customize your combat build between offensive burst, defensive tanking, and sustained mana endurance.

5. Focus Wands, Potency, Tempo & The Shatter Stake

A Focus Wand is a mage's essential conduit for shaping magical energy. Wielding an attuned wand grants critical combat advantages:

  • Spell Potency Boost: Increases the raw offensive power and damage output of all spells channeled through the wand.
  • Cast Tempo Boost: Accelerates spell execution and tactical combat speed, improving your timing and turn priority.
  • Unarmed Penalty: Casting spells without an equipped wand incurs a punishing -10% Spell Damage Penalty and completely disables your ability to land critical strikes.

Conduit Overload (Rank B+ Wand Requirement):

Wielding powerful Rank B, Rank A, or Rank S Focus Wands requires advanced spiritual maturity:

  • Requirement: You must achieve Knight Rank Tier 3 (Archon / Level 25+) to channel Rank B or higher conduits.
  • The Penalty: If a lower-ranked initiate attempts to equip a Rank B, A, or S wand before reaching Rank 3, their spirit circuits suffer Conduit Overload. The wand's Cast Tempo is nullified to 0% because their body cannot control its immense flow of leylines.

The Shatter Stake Rule (High-Stakes PvP Wand Loss):

In competitive PvP Player Duels, duelists battle with their focus conduits on the line:

  • When Wands Break: If you suffer defeat in a PvP duel and the victor finishes the battle with 70% or more of their Maximum Health remaining, your currently equipped Focus Wand (Rank C or higher) is permanently shattered!
  • Trophy Claim: The victor claims the shattered wand remnants as a permanent trophy to display on their Order Quarters wall rack.
  • Safe Storage: Un-equipped wands stored in your inventory satchel or wardrobe can never be shattered.
  • PvE Immunity: Monsters, dungeon bosses, wilderness creatures, and the Sparring Automaton can never shatter your wand, regardless of the battle's outcome.

6. The Grand Duel Arena & Simultaneous "We-Go" Combat

Combat in Arcane Rebirth does not use slow, alternating turn orders. Duelists commit their tactical commands simultaneously within a 60-second sandglass window:

The Linear 3-Zone Combat Strip:

Combatants face each other on a linear 3-zone strip: Close, Mid, or Far:

  • Every spell has an effective combat range. Casting an attack outside its effective range will cause it to Whiff (miss completely).
  • Distance Moves Resolve First: If you or your opponent chooses to Move (Advance or Retreat), the spatial repositioning occurs before spells launch! Smart retreating can make an incoming blade or touch-range spell whiff safely.

Available Combat Actions:

  • Attack: Channel one of your equipped Grimoire spells or deliver a physical strike with your focus conduit.
  • Defend: Adopt a defensive posture, substantially mitigating incoming damage and restoring +10 Mana.
  • Move: Reposition forward (Advance) or backward (Retreat) along the combat strip to control distance.

Sparring Automaton vs. PvP Duels:

  • Training Sparring (Rogue Spellblade Automaton): Practice freely against the Citadel's training dummy. Rounds resolve instantly the moment you lock your action. Defeat carries no stamina loss, no hospital penalty, and zero risk of wand breakage.
  • PvP Player Duels: Challenge other knights in the arena. Both combatants have 60 seconds to lock their actions. Review match records and round-by-round logs in the Recent Arena Chronicle.
  • 30-Round Regulation Limit: Sanctioned Grand Duel Arena regulations enforce a strict 30-round limit. If you cannot defeat the enemy before 30 rounds conclude, you automatically suffer defeat (“You couldn't defeat the enemy in time, so you lose”).

7. Dungeons & Infirmary Hospitalization

Dungeons are perilous multi-chamber expeditions scattered throughout the continent:

  • Chambers & Bosses: Advance through sequential rooms battling dungeon guardians, elite mobs, and powerful dungeon overlords.
  • Dungeon Cooldowns: Completing or exiting an expedition triggers a cooldown period (typically 24 hours) before that dungeon can be challenged again.
  • Defeat & Hospitalization: If you fall in battle inside a dungeon, Order rescue teams transport you to the Citadel Infirmary Tower. You will be hospitalized for a brief 5-minute recovery period while healers mend your wounds and restore your vital reserves.

8. Treasure Chests & Spoils of War

Adventurers can discover ancient Treasure Chests while exploring deep dungeon vaults, uncovering secret map tiles, or conquering formidable foes:

  • Chest Tiers: Range from simple Wooden and Bronze chests up to ornate Gilded, Arcane, and Primordial vaults.
  • Potential Spoils: Opening chests awards substantial gold, crafting reagents, rare equipment pieces, focus conduits, and consumable recovery draughts.
  • Key Requirements: Advanced chests may require specialized dungeon keys or high perception to unlock.

9. Wilderness Travel, Field Tents & Encounter Levels

The continent is an expansive grid of diverse biomes (forests, tundras, deserts, volcanic crags, and arcane ruins):

  • Movement: Traveling between grid coordinates consumes stamina based on terrain difficulty.
  • Field Tents: Mages traveling in the wild can pitch a Field Tent on any tile. Resting inside your tent regenerates health, mana, and stamina continuously without needing to walk all the way back to town.
  • Citadel Sanctuary: The Citadel tile at (0, 5) is a safe zone where hostile ambushes and PvP are disabled.

NPC Level Range When Travelling:

When traversing the wilderness outside the Citadel, hostile encounters follow a balanced level-distribution system:

  • 80% of Encounters (Zone-Based): The creature's level is determined by the danger level of the territory zone you are in. Regions near the Citadel feature lower-level wildlife, while distant uncharted territories spawn deadly high-level beasts.
  • 20% of Encounters (Level-Matched): The encounter scales directly to your current character level (strictly within ±2 levels of your character).
  • Fleeing: If an encounter is too dangerous, you can attempt to flee. Your success chance improves with your Agility attribute relative to the monster's level.

10. Imperial Outlaw Bounties & Multi-Item Spoils

Notorious rogue mages and legendary beasts roam the uncharted wilds with imperial prices on their heads:

  • The Realm Gazette: Check the daily Gazette (/gazette) to inspect active bounty targets, their reported coordinates, combat level, elemental affinity, and bounties.
  • Multi-Item Loot Spoils: Slaying a bounty target awards the gold bounty, Order merits, generous experience, and rolls up to 3 separate loot spoils (including wearable armor, focus wands, and rare crafting materials).
  • Realm Broadcasts & Respawn: Claiming an outlaw broadcasts your victory server-wide in global chat. Slain bounties enter a 4-hour respawn timer before roaming the frontier again.

11. The Elemental Wheel & Living Weather

Elemental affinities govern combat advantages throughout the realm:

Element Strong Against (+20% Damage) Weak Against Associated Order
🔥 Fire Earth & Nature Water & Ice Pyre Dominion
🌊 Water Fire & Magma Lightning & Earth Abyssal Syndicate
🌱 Earth Wind & Lightning Fire & Void Terra Enclave
💨 Wind Water & Mist Earth & Steel Zephyr Concord

Living World Weather Cycles (Rotates Every 4 Hours)

The continental atmosphere cycles across six atmospheric states: Clear Skies, Tempest, Solar Surge, Abyssal Fog, Leyline Flux, and Eclipse:

  • Elemental Resonance: Spells matching the active weather receive a +10% damage bonus.
  • Opposed Magic Surcharge: Spells opposed to the prevailing weather cost +15% more mana to channel.
  • Environmental Effects: Thick Abyssal Fog reduces scouting radar perception, making roving creatures harder to detect until they are close.

12. Territorial Conquest & Leyline Monoliths

Five ancient Leyline Monoliths (Pyre, Tides, Spire, Gales, Astral Void) stand on the continental map as conduits of sovereign territory control:

  1. Dormant Phase: Monoliths absorb ambient energy from nearby wilderness battles until charged.
  2. Overloading Phase (45 Minutes): When a monolith ruptures, an alarm echoes realm-wide. The four Orders rush to the monolith tile to channel energy into the leyline.
  3. Stabilized Phase (24 Hours): The Order with the highest attunement claims 24-hour sovereign control, unlocking continental elemental damage buffs, order merit multipliers, and fast-travel Leyline Conduits.
  4. Guardian Sentinels: The controlling faction can deploy durable Sentinels on the tile to guard the monolith against rival incursions.

13. Order Quarters & The Broken Wand Rack

Every knight has a private sanctuary inside their Order Headquarters:

  • Customizable Chamber: Furnish Bedding, Wall Decor, Desks, and Hearths to enhance your resting regeneration rates and elemental wards.
  • Broken Wand Wall Rack: Mounted proudly on your chamber wall, this rack displays shattered enemy foci claimed under the PvP Shatter Stake rule. Each displayed trophy grants a passive bonus to your spiritual Aura Pressure in combat.
  • Guest Reliquary: Exhibit your unlocked achievement medals on the Reliquary Pedestal and allow friends and rivals to sign your chamber guestbook.

14. S-Rank Heirloom Relics, Citadel Forge & Sacred Token Alchemy

For master spellcasters who have achieved Level 50+ (Knight Rank 4: Sovereign), the ultimate tier of power is unlocked through the S-Rank Heirloom System. Unlike lower equipment ranks that rely on direct drop randomness, S-Rank Heirloom gear uses a deterministic token economy governed by the High Archon Citadel Forge.

How to Obtain Heirloom Tokens

Heirloom Tokens are bound material treasures stored in your Material Satchel. They are awarded through three distinct channels:

  • Dungeon Boss Triumphs: Defeating registered Level 50+ Dungeon Bosses awards sacred Heirloom Tokens directly into your satchel. Drop amounts (Min–Max RNG) and drop probabilities are determined by the specific boss encounter.
  • Relic Deconstruction (Salvage): Dissolving any unequipped S-Rank relic at the Citadel Forge dismantles the relic into 5 Heirloom Tokens of its corresponding tier. Equipped relics are safely protected from accidental dissolution.
  • Sacred Token Altar (Alchemy Transmutation): Lower-tier tokens can be fused upward into higher-tier tokens at the Sacred Altar without losing material value.

Where to Trade Tokens: The Grand Citadel High Archon Forge

Travel to the Grand Citadel and enter the Archon Forge District (/citadel/forge). The Forge provides three specialized master craft tabs:

  • Tab 1 – Forge Relics (Token Exchange): Spend exactly 25 Heirloom Tokens of a specific tier to forge 1 pristine S-Rank relic of your choice. You can filter available gear by unlocked Tier and paper-doll slot (Head, Torso, Legs, Ring, Necklace).
  • Tab 2 – Salvage Relics: Scan your satchel for duplicate or unneeded S-Rank equipment and dismantle them to reclaim 5 tokens per relic.
  • Tab 3 – Sacred Token Altar: Step before the ancient transmutation cauldron to fuse lesser tokens into higher tiers.

Sacred Token Altar: Exponential Binary Transmutation

The Sacred Altar operates on ancient binary mathematics where each successive tier possesses twice the spiritual density of the preceding tier. The required conversion cost follows the exact formula:

Required Source Tokens = 2^(Target_Tier - Source_Tier) × Units Desired

Source Tier Target Tier Tier Distance (Δ) Exchange Rate Example Cost
Tier I Tier II 1 Tier 2 × Tier I per Tier II 10 Tier I → 5 Tier II
Tier I Tier III 2 Tiers 4 × Tier I per Tier III 20 Tier I → 5 Tier III
Tier I Tier IV 3 Tiers 8 × Tier I per Tier IV 40 Tier I → 5 Tier IV
Tier II Tier III 1 Tier 2 × Tier II per Tier III 10 Tier II → 5 Tier III
Tier II Tier IV 2 Tiers 4 × Tier II per Tier IV 20 Tier II → 5 Tier IV
Tier III Tier IV 1 Tier 2 × Tier III per Tier IV 10 Tier III → 5 Tier IV

Transmutation is strictly upward (lesser to greater) and requires both source and target tiers to be unlocked by realm archons.
